Our Ukrainian Future Classroom Lab
Our Ukrainian Future Classroom Lab ( STEM laboratory) #TheUkrainianFutureClassroomLab, was created in 2018 and is part of the European Future Classroom Lab network. The equipment was purchased thanks to participation in the EduHack hackathon and the collection of 37 thousand hryvnias on the GoFundEd crowdfunding platform.
Initially, the laboratory was conceived as a stationary one, but over time it became clear that access to the equipment should not be limited to students of only one school.
During the creation of the Ukrainian Future Classroom Lab, as much as I would like to have a classroom with modern mobile furniture (as in the Future Classroom Lab in Brussels), I focused primarily on robotics, VR technologies, and interactive panels with advanced software. This ultimately provided her with good mobility.
In our Ukrainian Future Classroom Lab, students learn programming using robotics kits. We also have Lego WeDo 2.0 and MBot Makeblock constructors, as well as Arduino kits. Robotics is a powerful tool for STEM education that makes learning and exploring complex things fun and accessible. Students work in a team and have the opportunity to feel like young inventors.
Our students conduct research using virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR) technologies (virtual reality glasses and Google Expeditions applications come in handy). These technologies can be used in lessons in both the natural sciences and the humanities. There are many free augmented reality applications that can be downloaded to a smartphone from the Play Market or AppStore, for example Quiver, AR Solar System, Futurio.
